Why I do what I do: I really enjoy banking and the daily challenges that come with it, especially in the commercial real estate market.
What I do to get away from work: Play golf and volleyball. My family members are avid St. Louis Cardinal and Blues followers. We have been a housing family for the Des Moines Buccaneers the last three years. We also follow our 14-year-old son with his travel hockey schedule. Words to live by: Never say never because it's never too late to have an impact on life.
Best business book I've read lately: "Getting to Yes" by Roger Fisher and William Ury. A great book on negotiating skills.
The best place in central Iowa to entertain clients or colleagues: Any of the many local golf courses in central Iowa.

UW pitches; legislators listen politely
University of Washington emissaries got what might be the friendliest reception they can expect from the Legislature this session when they brought their request for $150 million for Husky Stadium to the Senate budget committee Tuesday. Hereafter, the reception promises to get chillier. Former Gov. Dan Evans, football coach Tyrone Willingham and interim UW athletic director Scott Woodward explained how they would use a batch of state-approved taxes if lawmakers agree to pay for half of a $300 million renovation to the 88-year-old stadium in Seattle. But much of the testimony in favor of Senate Bill 6848 came from the chairwoman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee herself. Sen. Margarita Prentice is the bill's prime sponsor and lead cheerleader, so the UW delegation had home-field advantage.

Tahiti, Where land, sea and sky meet to form paradise
Once upon a long time ago, I developed a fascination with Tahiti and the islands of the South Pacific. Maybe it was seeing "Mutiny on the Bounty" for the first time or perhaps it was something I saw at the New York Worlds Fair back in the 60s. I even remember this toxic waste in a can that was developed to compete with Hawaiian Punch, called Tahitian Treat. I loved that stuff. Doubt I could drink one now though. Later on in life, as I learned to sail, the lyrics from Steve Still's "Southern Cross" would bear to mind. A song, if you don't recall, is about being aboard his schooner "Music" in the Marquesas and the islands of French Polynesia
I knew that somehow, someday, I had to go there. As luck would shine on me I got a chance to do that this past May.

Vehicle stop for traffic offense results in meth-related arrest
The Lee County Narcotics Task Force reported the arrest of a Keokuk man on a felony drug charge.Chris-topher A. Matous, 23, 3000 S. Seventh St., was charged with conspiracy to manufacture less than five grams of methamphetamine, a Class C felony. If convicted, Matous could face up to 10 years in a state correctional facility.The arrest stems from an investigation by the task force into allegations Matous was involved in the manufacture of methamphetamine in the Keokuk area.He was arrested Thursday following a traffic stop for a driving offense by Keokuk police. Investigators later searched the vehicle and found items that indicated the manufacture of and/or use of methamphetamine.Task force Commander Dave Hinton said Matous had a knife in his possession. Matous was taken to the Lee County Jail pending an initial court appearance.

Senate backs overhaul bill that 'will save lives'

Victor got a check-up and two vaccinations at the facility, the largest urban Indian health clinic in the country, which serves about 7,000 Native Americans each year. .
Where do women voters stand
It was clean, very well maintained, the tater tots were $2 and they had these huge four pitcher decanters that was almost enough for all of us. We had a blast. I had forgot how much trauma is involved in slinging a 15 pound ball. My elbow is still a little sore. I was hoping that Pink Martini was going to be a show at the FOX, maybe with the Atlanta Symphony. I would love to go to Miami, but tyhere would need to be several reasons to go that far. What is duck bowling? Please tell me that you have not been throwing heavy balls at little ducks! .
